United Way COVID-19 Resources: 211 is a United Way program that provides free information and referral to human/social service agencies within Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties, 24 hour a day, 365 days a year.  Clients can call and receive information and referrals appropriate to their needs. United Way 211 help peoples navigate their way through the maze of human and social services agencies by providing the most adequate resources for the client’s situation. English and Spanish languages are readily available. United Way 211 is for non-emergency assistance only; 211 may not be reached on some hotel, cell, or pay phones. In these cases, 211 can be reached in Lee County at (239) 433-3900 and Hendry/Glades (800) 887-9234. United Way 211 is a partnership between United Way of Lee County, Lee County Department of Human Services, ACT, Child Care of Southwest Florida, Southwest Florida Community Foundation, and Publix Super Markets.

April 16: Farm Share Food Distribution Event at The Heights Center: On Thursday, April 16 there will be a Farm Share Food Distribution event at The Heights Center from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. Families will receive pre-bagged groceries, including produce, meat, and dry goods. Families will remain in their cars and get groceries using a drive-thru model to minimize person to person contact. Lee County School District Grab & Go Meals: The Lee County School District has announced “Grab & Go” lunch and breakfast at 23 school locations between March 23rd and 27th. Breakfast and lunch will be served together in a single bag. The meals are free for anyone under 18 years of age. Each child must be present at the pick-up location to receive a “Grab & Go” bag. It is expected the meals will be eaten at home, and not the schools where they are picked up. To help prevent the further spreading of COVID-19 groceries are being pre-packaged. All individuals are being asked to remain in their vehicles and St. Matthew's House volunteers will load each car individually.

The SKY Family YMCA: Effective March 23rd, The SKY Family YMCA transitioned their focus on offering school-days-out childcare and youth camps for working families and hospital workers: Fort Myers and Bonita Springs YMCAs.  Also, amid school closures related to COVID-19, The SKY Family YMCA is providing free Grab & Go meals to children ages 5-18 to ensure kids have uninterrupted access to healthy and nutritious foods. Internet Access

Internet Essentials from Comcast: Comcast is taking immediate steps to help connect low-income families to the Internet at home. New Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service, which is available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month plus tax. Apply by April 30, 2020. Additionally, for all new and existing Internet Essentials customers, the speed of the program's Internet service has increased to 25 Mbps downstream and 3 Mbps upstream. That increase will go into effect automatically for no additional fee and it will become the new base speed for the program going forward.
